I decided to run after looking into the candidates in my district and fining they don’t share my progressive values or ideals, where our representatives advocated for the rights and needs of all community members. I want a city that prioritizes the working class, social programs, the local economy, and rejects exploitative contracts such as the ones my city has made with data centers. If I had to file to get closer to the change we want to see, then that’s what I had to do, and I decided to go for it and run.
Reinforce and expand public transportation within our city to create more local jobs, lower traffic and emissions, increase access to services, reduce drunk driving, and support local and foreign tourism.
Flip tax incentives to prioritize single family home-owners and small local businesses over billionaire industries and housing investors.
Create loan programs to revitalize downtown and our historic neighborhoods that would be accessible to a sector of the community that would otherwise not have the lending power, loans and lines of credit with low access thresholds, low interest rates, zero down payments, and income/asset requirements prioritizing low and middle class individuals. Thus promoting small local businesses, residential equality, and a stronger tourism economy, as well as breaking some of the monopolies in our city.
Prioritize creating strong and effective framework, policies, and utility reform to prevent current and future data centers from extracting our local resources.
Provide support for households to have solar power installed that lowers their dependence on the electric grid, with the aim of lowering the demand of electric power to such an extent that the city is able to buy back the electric company and make it once again, publicly owned.
Increase wages at the city level, break ai initiatives/contracts that ultimately reduce the number of jobs at city level, create programs that give access to higher skill jobs at entry level, and diversify the companies the city invites and invests into over large corporations/oligopolies, to promote competitive wages.
